For the second time in three days, the Hays-Lodge Pole girls basketball team pulled off a thrilling victory over North Star. On Saturday at the Havre High gymnasium, the Thunderbirds beat the Knights 51-47 in the 9C girls consolation game. Anita Denny scored 18 points for HLP and Shelby Lipp led the Knights with 10 points. The Box Elder Bears have had quite the District 9C boys basketball tournament. Anmd it might not yet. On Saturday afternoon, Box Elder beat Hays-Lodge Pole for the seocnd time in three days, this time, winning 65-37 in the 9C consolation game. Warren Parisian scored 22 points and Jacob Parker added 17 as the Bears finished in third place and can challenge for second on Monday if Chinook captures the 9C championship later tonight. In a thrilling turn of events, the Montana State University-Northern women's basketball team gave head coach Chris Mouat his 100th career win at Northern by crushing the Carroll College Fighting Saints for a second time this season.
