Hill County Commissioner Diane McLean expressed frustration to Great Northern Fair Board members during the board’s monthly meeting Tuesday night for not having moved any closer to hiring a manager-groundskeeper. “We don’t have a job description for manager,” board member Karla Vaughn said during the meeting. She said the hiring committee had not met since the last meeting, Dec. 20, and so had not agreed on whether the position will be one or two, whether it will have a different title and whether the house on the fairgro...

After the meeting, Paulson said he thinks heading the department will be a real privilege “I’ve been here 21 years and to serve the people of Havre and a city of this capacit...

After the most disruptive and disreputable presidential campaign and transition in memory, I seriously relate to the words of “My Fair Lady” lyricist Alan J. Lerner from the song “Show Me,” which begins: “Words! Words! Words! I’m so sick of words! I get words all day through; First from him, now from you! Is that all you blighters can do?” That song gets at the point that actions can count as much as words. Meaning can be found in the actions the speaker takes both before and after political words are proclaimed. But as much...

After two full weeks of Frontier Conference play in January, it appears one thing is a certainty — men’s and women’s teams are going to continue to beat up on each other. And, as it relates to the Frontier, the new NAIA Men’s and Women’s Coaches Polls, released Tuesday, reflect that fact. On the women’s side, in just one week, the poll went from having four Frontier teams inside the Top 25, and just one other receiving votes, to having three teams in the Top 25, but three m...
For the final time this season and for some, the final time in their careers, the Havre Blue Ponies wrestled inside the HHS gymnasium Tuesday, taking on the Sidney Eagles. Over the years, the two Eastern A rivals have had some great competitions, mostly coming at the state tournament.
