"This is a great way to raise money and raise awareness for Special Olympics," said...

On Oct. 23 a senior Havre Police Department patrol officer came into the Havre Daily News office and nominated me to participate in the Sub-Zero Super-Hero Polar Plunge. Having recently moved from sunny California, I had yet to experience any form of freezing weather, let alone being engulfed by ice-cold water. What was I thinking? Nonetheless, I accepted the challenge. I felt really passionate about the cause it supported, Special Olympics–Montana. These athletes have perseve...

It will be hard for the Montana State University-Northern Lights, players and coaches, to forget about the last three weeks. It will be tough for them to shrug off the sting of back-to-back home defeats to Carroll College and UM-Western. How could it not be? After all, football players and coaches are very prideful, and there’s no doubt the Lights’ pride was certainly bruised after Saturday’s 60-15 loss at the hands of the UM-Western Bulldogs. However, as the Lights walked out...
Saturday’s Frontier Conference football game between the Montana State University-Northern Lights and the UM-Western Bulldogs was played in Havre’s Blue Pony Stadium. But it sure was a day when Great Falls could be proud. The Bulldogs shellacked the struggling Lights 60-15, but on both teams, and on both sides of the ball, natives of Great Falls impacted the game in big ways. For the Lights, sophomore Zach McKinley added 91 yards rushing and 41 receiving to his already hug... Full story

At least for this season, the bitter rivalry between the Montana State University-Northern Skylights and the University of Great Falls Argos was a little one-sided. For the second time this season, the Argos swept the Skylights on the volleyball court, as UGF beat Northern by scores of 25-18, 25-13 and 25-19 Saturday night at the McLaughlin Center in Great Falls. The loss means Northern finishes the regular season with a 3-11 record in the Frontier Conference, and tied with th...
The Glacier Nationals of the North American Tier 3 Hockey League play a long season. And if injuiries and illness hit, it can make things difficult, which is something the Nationals learned first-hand this past weekend against the powerful Helena Bighorns.
