The latest surge of COVID-19 is having a direct impact on local entertainment, as, once again, the pandemic has thrown a wrench into the works for Montana Actors' Theatre. The acting troupe has had to delay its opening of "Monty Python's Spamalot." MAT Artistic Director Grant Olson said one cast member tested positive for COVID-19, so they've pushed back the opening for the play, originally opening next weekend, until Jan. 20 for the sake of public safety. Olson said the cast...

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and his wife, Fran, intended to help the state’s popularity soar with a new state license plate, but it quickly hit turbulence and had to make an immediate course correction, which was a bit difficult with all that egg on their face. For the Montana State Bobcats, this is new territory. For their opponent, it's just like old times. That's the matchup in Saturday's FCS national championship game when the Bobcats take on North Dakota State at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. Out our way, the dreaded season of the "Alberta clippers" is upon us. Now that I am in the high desert, I chuckle when folks complain about it being a mere 9 degrees above zero and maybe ¼ inch snow on the ground. Yet, I miss home - and even the winters that we survived despite the Arctic howlers that came sweeping out of Santa's workshop. I can remember huddling in the cold and reminding myself that we Montanans pay the price of winter whiteouts, huge snowfalls and...
How many times do you hear the words, "I love you"? For some, maybe those with exuberant and affectionate kiddos in their life, they hear it all the time. For others, perhaps they hear those words rarely, if ever. Wherever you fall on that spectrum, the Old Testament reading this Sunday from the Revised Common Lectionary has a gift for you: the only place in Scripture where God says the words, "I love you." To quote a little more from Isaiah 43:4: "You are precious in my sight...
You know, Lord, a New Year has dawned; we've already flicked the calendar to the New Year, so now we come face to face with the fact that our days on earth are numbered. As we turn to this clean, fresh, new page on the calendar we've become aware that we have a new day, a new year, in our lives. It is up to us to fill in those pages. Please help us to choose wisely, Lord, let us forget about the past and begin to look forward to what You have in store for us. Your Word is...
Alone, but never quite alone, we face an empty chair - But sometimes in the silence dear, it seems like you're still there My dearest one for many year - no longer here with me. Yet in some mysterious ways, he keeps me company Memories of him do come my way, though absent, he's still here Seems every day in some small way, you're loved, and missed my dear. When we get to heaven, dear one, where all are free from pain, We'll hug real tight, like long ago - we'll never part...
