In the Monday Night Straightaway League, Dave Wolf shot the second 300-game of the season. Dave, who is one of Havre’s long-time bowlers, accomplished the feat on his second game of a four game set. He shot games of 237, 300, 192, 268 for a 997 set. He is currently holding a 209 average, bowling in two leagues. I was told by him that every shot was in the 1-3 pocket. Congratulations Dave, from Hi-Line Lanes. He will receive a 300 ring from U.S.B.C. and a plaque from the Montana Bowling Proprietors Association. One h...
The Hi-Line Lanes Challenge Tournament has completed another chapter, as 24 keglers took to the lanes on Saturday. Bowlers from Browning, Shelby, Great Falls, Big Sandy, Harlem and Havre were competing for the top spot, or “King of the Hi-Line,” so to speak. Claiming that honor once again was Ival Jackson from Harlem, as he endured the same tough lane conditions. All bowlers were encountering different lane conditions as they moved from lane to lane. Just missing the step-ladder was Julie Rodgers who was one of two fem...
As the weather continues to get colder the lanes remain hot for the keglers, especially Havre's Roman Surber. He has rolled three 700-series in a row. That feat is remarkable considering most bowlers won’t do that in a lifetime, the low one being 704 while the high one is a 757. Roman's brother, Kyle, is also on a roll having bowled a “Andy Varipappa 300”, throwing 15 strikes in a row between two games. Congratulations to both bowlers. The Hi-Line Lanes Challenge will get underway this Saturday at 2 p.m. There's still room...

After three unsuccessful tries at a 300 game, all ending with a score of 297, Roman Surber finally got the jinx off his back as he succeeded in rolling a 300-game on Sunday night. Surber did it in the third game after games of 172 and 180 for a 652 series. He joins a long list of 300 games at Hi-Line Lanes, one of which includes his brother, Kyle, who rolled one on April 4, 2012. It is the only brother combination who has done that at Hi-Line Lanes. It is also the first one for the 2013-14 season. Congratulations Roman. A mee...

After several months of no league bowling, Hi-Line Lanes welcomed back bowlers in all leagues. Scores did not show that they took any time off, as the scores were as hot as the 90-degree weather. Roman Surber just missed another 300 with a 297, (his third try for the magic 300 in one year). Some keglers don’t get three chances in a lifetime. Jason McDonald had a three-game set of 765, with a 289 game. Ken Riska had a 279, plus several other high games and series. On the ladies side the scores were not as high, but very r...
