Republican Matt Boucher won the only contested Havre City Council race, Tuesday, defeating Democrat Karen Datko 225-173 in the race for the open four-year seat in Ward 4. Havre Mayor Tim Solomon, a Democrat, won a second term Tuesday, defeating the man he beat four years ago, former Mayor Bob Rice. The first results showed Solomon defeating Rice 1,399-1,109, 55.8 percent of the vote, carrying all four wards. A pair of current Havre High tennis players took to the courts in Missoula this past week, competing in the Montana State Junior Open. Havre High sophomores Jeff Miller and Jerod Boles both competed in the event, which is one of the biggest tennis tournaments on the USTA Intermountain summer circuit.
