    Daniel Horton

Montana State University-Northern guard Brock Hyder is a four-year starter, a Frontier all-conference selection and a 2012 Preseason NAIA All-American. In the game of football, offensive linemen are monsters. The trenches are typically crowded with 6-3, 300-pound (or bigger) behemoths, and normally, after the dust of each play settles, the strongest man wins the battle. But just like everything else in life, there is always the exception. In this case, Montana State University- MSU-Northern senior Brock Hyder has anchored the...

Gruber, a junior, has adjusted very well to the varsity lineup in just three games this season. He is a starting wide receiver on the offensive side of the ball, and is a starting corner on the defensive side of the ball. And while it sometimes takes players several weeks to really make a splash when new to the varsity lineup, Gruber has seemingly made the transition with no major...

    Daniel Horton

There is no doubt that the Montana State University-Northern volleyball program is having one of the best seasons in the school's recent history. And senior outside hitter Hillary Isleifson is undoubtedly one of the key reasons for the program's success thus far. But it turns out, Isleifson needed the Skylights just as bad as the Skylights needed her. Isleifson is a 6-0 hitter originally from Carlyle, Saskatchewan, and she thrives off of competition, and is used to success. As a junior in high school, she and the rest of her...

With no extra hype or buildup, district rivaly football games are typically hard-fought and exciting. But bring in two teams that are both 9-1, both fighting for a spot in the state champinship and are facing off for the second time in a season, and fans should be in store for one of the better prep football games of the season. Saturday at 1 p.m. the No. 4 Northern C 6-Ma Big Sandy's Jessey Bailey plows through the North Star defense during a Class C Six-Man football game last month in Rudyard. The Pioneers are home...
