Ice Hawks fall twice to Billings

The holiday break came to an end for the Havre Ice Hawks high school hockey team, but the Billings Bulls made Havre's return to the ice a little more difficult.

The Ice Hawks were home to face the Bulls this past weekend at the Havre Ice Dome, but Billings took both games from Havre.

In the first game the Bulls blanked the Ice Hawks 9-0 on Friday night, as Havre was really out-manned, playing with just 11 skaters. In the pipes, Nic Stump saved 28 shots for Havre, while the Ice Hawks had 12 shots on goal offensively.

The Ice Hawks took another shot at the Bulls on Saturday afternoon, but Billings was again too good offensively, as the Bulls won 13-2.

Offensively, Havre had 14 shots on goal, with Jeffrey Ralph finding the net in the first period on assists by Stump and Noah Kirsch. Cole Hanson added an unassisted goal for the Ice Hawks in the second period.

Defensively, Havre goalie Bay Merker stopped 23 shots for the Ice Hawks, while Billings got 36 shots on goal.

Havre will now hit the road this weekend for a pair of games against the Great Falls Americans in Great Falls.
