Jerod Reed Coffee

Jerod Reed Coffee, Indian name Wekusk (Sweetgrass), 19, of Rocky Boy passed away in a motor vehicle accident on July 23, 2014.

A wake began Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the Coffee residence in Parker School, with a funeral to follow on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the Coffee Ranch.

Jerod was born to Carter and Billie Jo Coffee on June 26, 1995, in Havre, Montana. Raised in Rocky Boy, Jerod attended school there, later taking college classes through Stone Child College in 2013, and then attending the University of Great Falls on a rodeo scholarship.

Jerod loved riding bulls and was a member of the Washington Redskins Rodeo Team. He was a member of the United Indian Rodeo Association and was a two-time qualifier for the Indian National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada. Jerod was a very quiet and caring person who enjoyed playing Xbox Kinect and spending time with his friends and family. Jerod also attended Native American Church meetings.

He is preceded in death by his aunt, Rona Turn Toes; grandfather, Eugene LaMere Sr .; uncle, Eugene LaMere Jr .; and grandmothers, Rebecca Kurip and Lucille Kurip.

Jerod is survived by his parents, Carter and Billie Jo Coffee of Rocky Boy; siblings, Sasha and Carlynn Coffee; grandmothers, Dorothy Coffee and Betty Henderson; special friend, Tyann Watson; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
