Sexual harassment hearing to wrap up Tuesday

The Randy Bachmeier vs. Montana State University-Northern sexual harassment hearing will resume at 9 a.m. Tuesday, in Helena.

The hearing began June 17 and was given until 5 p.m. June 19 to be finished. The attorneys were unable to meet the 5 p.m. deadline and hearing officer Terry Spear would not let the hearing continue past the allotted time.

July 15 was chosen as the day to continue the hearing.

Rosalyn Templeton, against whom the sexual harassment complaint was made, is the only witness left to testify in the hearing.

Bachmeier, the dean of extended university at Northern, claims that Templeton inappropriately touched him several times. Templeton, vice chancellor and provost at the time, has since resigned.

Bachmeier applied to succeed Templeton, but claims the university and Chancellor James Limbaugh changed the qualification to ensure that he was not eligible.

The hearing will be held at the Montana Human Relations Bureau office in Helena.

The earlier hearings were at Northern.

The Havre Daily News will provide updates throughout the day on its website at http://www.havredailynews.com and will publish an article about the hearing in Wednesday’s issue.
