Dennis Russell Ulmen

Dennis Russell Ulmen, 69, lifelong resident of Big Sandy, passed away at the Big Sandy Medical Center on the morning of June 23, 2014, after a long illness.

Dennis was the only child born to Ethel (Cooke) and Clem Ulmen on June 6, 1945. He was the apple of their eyes and a happy child. He spent much of his childhood with his McNeill, Ulmen, and Cooke cousins.

Whether in the Bear Paws or on the prairie, Dennis liked to be where the action was.

Dennis graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1963. After high school, he went to work as a FuelMan for Farmer's Union Oil in Big Sandy.  Dennis enjoyed delivering fuel to the local farmers and ranchers. Dennis owned his own truck and hauled throughout the '80s and '90s, and later worked for Ezzie's of Havre.

A truck accident in 1987 left him with a broken back and years of pain. He retired in 2005. Dennis was married

to Janice Jurenka in 1975. They later divorced. He married Christine Wortman in 1980, helping raise her two sons, Kole and Lacy. They later divorced.

Dennis enjoyed coffee, antiques, nice vehicles, driving around and watching television. He especially enjoyed watching bull riding and the National Finals Rodeo.

There will be a memorial service on July 14, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Big Sandy with burial of ashes in the Big Sandy Cemetery.
