Fay Lois Stuker

Fay Lois (Vercruyssen) Stuker, 82, passed away June 19, 2014, at Northern Montana Hospital due to natural causes.

Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at 10 a.m. in St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Chinook with burial following in the Kuper Memorial Cemetery. Rosary will be recited on Monday, June 23, at 7 p.m. in St. Gabriel's Catholic Church. Arrangements have been made with Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.

Fay Lois Vercruyssen was born in the old Sacred Heart Hospital in Havre to Marion (Kearful) Vercruyssen and Gustave L. Vercruyssen on Feb. 29, 1932.

She attended grade school at the Ada and Sprague schools on Clear Creek. She graduated from the Ursuline Academy and the College of Education in Great Falls. She taught at the Maddox School in the mountains before her marriage. After her marriage she taught at the Hydro School north of Chinook.

Fay married John W. Stuker on July 29, 1950, in St. Gabriel's in Chinook. To this union were born seven children.

She loved her family dearly and was very proud of them. She enjoyed working with her husband on the ranch, gardening, reading, spending time with her grandchildren and gathering with her family. She loved all children and was known for her hugs. She was a wonderful cook and fed many people.

Fay was preceded in death by her husband, John W.; her daughter, Ruth Smith; her sister, Flora Paulsen; and her parents, Marion Vercruyssen, Gus Vercruyssen and Churnie (Arthur) Peugh.

Survivors include her daughters, Jerri Ann (Steve) Willman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Marion (Mike) Colling of Havre and Leslie (Lee) Burroughs of Lavina; sons, John H. (Elena) Stuker of Great Falls, Ken (Becky) Stuker of Jefferson City and Richard (Rose) Stuker of Chinook; grandchildren, Stefanie (Travis) Nichols, Stacie (Jason) Mahaffey, Scott (Stephanie Kay) Willman, Kristy (Paul) Yakawich, Mary (Clete) Ophus, Sam Burroughs, Jed (Cathy) Burroughs, Jessie Burroughs, J.L. (Dorotka) Stuker, Joel (Melissa) Stuker, Dallas (Tricia) Stuker, Wendy (Justin) Hunt, Liz and Donald; great-grandchildren, Jayton, Alysson, Ethan, Emerald, Thomas, Ruby, Pearl, Cassie, Dallas, Elijah and Brooklynn; sisters, Lorney (Roger) Saylor of Lewistown and Joan Olson of Havre; half-brothers, Dr. Max (Donna) Vercruyssen of Hawaii and Jimmy (Kay) Vercruyssen of Spokane, Washington; and son-in-law, Ernie Smith.

Memorials may be sent to the St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Gift of Life Housing in Great Falls or to one's choice.
