State to open voting offices on reservations

HELENA — Montana will open satellite voting offices on the Crow, Northern Cheyenne and Fort Belknap Indian reservations in October as part of a settlement in a federal voting-rights lawsuit.

The offices will be open twice a week for late registration and for voters to cast absentee ballots for the Nov. 4 general elections.

The Havre Daily News recently did an editorial recently contending that mail-in ballots would solve these and other problems.

If the legislature would just pass a law to make all elections by mail ballot, this whole problem would all be nullified. Why does the HDN not look into that angle?
