Local Golf Report: Finally, golf is back in business

From Tee to Green...

Spring is finally in the air, and that means the local golf season is back in swing.

And the From Tee to Green golf column is back, too. I would like to take this opportunity to let every golfer in Havre know that if you would like any news, events or any other item printed in my weekly column, by all means, send me the information, and I’ll be happy to get in for you.

Both Prairie Farms Golf Course and Beaver Creek Golf Course are currently open for play, and the season has gone quite well thus far, with plenty of good golfing days already in the books.

At Prairie Farms Golf Course, the men’s league season is now two weeks in, with week three getting underway tonight. Last Tuesday saw Jeremy Jensen and Buzz Pizzini share low gross honors with a 39, while Greg Baltrusch was low net with a 32. Rock Solid earned high-team honors with 25 points. The team is composed of Rob Myers, Gary Richardson, Jim Benner and Jared Boyce.

Last Wednesday night, Justin Newton fired a 2-under par 34 to earn low gross. Scott Leeds was low net with a 30, while Michelob Light was high team with 23.5 points. The team was made up of Tom Baker, Jim Kato, Bruce Normandy and Murry Barkus.

Leagues will also be beginning soon for the women at Prairie Farms and men at BCGC,

Speaking of Justin Newton, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate him on earning Frontier Conference All-Conference honors as he wrapped up his senior season with the MSU-Northern Lights. The Lights and the Skylights had a strong finish to the golf season, and I’d like to say, job well done to all the Northern players and to head coach Dave Boles.
