Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

Payton Peterson, North Star Track

The North Star Knights dominated their home meet, the Jason Groseclose Memorial Track Meet, Monday afternoon in Rudyard. And so did Knights’ standout Payton Peterson. He swept the showcase events Monday, winning the 100 meters in 12.80 and the 200 meters in 26.50. In helping the Knights to the team title in their own meet, Peterson also captured the high jump with a mark of 5-6, finished third in the 400 and anchored the winning 4x100 relay team. Peterson also shined on the basketball court for the Knights this past winter.

Paige Henderson, Havre Softball

A little rain can’t seem to stop Havre High junior softball player Paige Henderson. The Blue Pony catcher, who can also play short stop and other positions, gave HHS a huge boost in Monday’s Central A showdown against Lewistown. The game was postponed Saturday, but in HHS’s 11-8 win over the Eagles, Henderson, who is one of Havre’s leading hitters, really broke out. She belted a home run in the first inning, while going 2-for-3 on the day. Overall, Henderson drove in the three runs, including a tie breaking, two-run double in the fourth inning.
