Blue Ponies thump Browning yet again

For the second consecutive outing, the Havre High softball team made short work of the conference rival Browning Indians.

Last weekend the Central A Blue Ponies defeated the Indians 21-0 in Havre. Thursday the Ponies took down the Indians 16-0 in Browning, improving their conference and overall records to 2-2. The Ponies are not done playing this weekend, as they will remain on the road today, hopefully playing two nonconference games at the Conrad Invitational, weather permitting.

Rachel Majeres got the pitching start for the Ponies, and pitched two innings in the win. Dani Wagner came on in relief and also pitched well, as the two combined for 10 strikeouts, three walks, zero hits and zero runs.

It was a lopsided victory for the Ponies, but going into the contest the Ponies were confidant they would get the easy win. But it was a good opportunity for the varsity to get a lot of at bats, as well as build momentum and confidence moving forward.

The Blue Ponies scored 16 runs on 12 hits and four Browning errors, and all in just four innings of action. But the Ponies were on cruise control as they posted 11 runs in the opening inning.

Wagner backed up her pitching with a handful of great plate appearances as well. Going 4-for-5 and driving in two RBIs, Wagner led the Ponies from the leadoff position. And Harlee Boucher, Paige Henderson and Morgan Mazurkiewicz went 2-for-3 for HHS, while Boucher and Henderson had two RBIs each. Boucher and Henderson scored two runs each, while Mazurkiewicz (one RBI) recorded a double and Henderson recorded a triple. Shania Carlson went 1-for-2 with one RBI, while Jordyn Warren went 1-for-1 with one RBI.

With back-to-back wins over Browning, the Ponies will look to settle into a groove moving forward. The Ponies had just one error, as they also look to keep improving in that area as well.

Today the Ponies (2-2) are in Conrad for the Conrad Invitational.
