Counterfeit $20 bills reported in Havre area

The Havre Police Department is investigating the circulation of counterfeit $20 bills around town.

Anyone accepting cash should take proper steps in checking the bills, police warned.

The counterfeit bills are being produced with low quality paper and ink. Serial numbers are identical, and the bills are smaller in size.

Anyone having contact with a counterfeit bill should call the police department immediately.

Anyone with information about the circulation of the counterfeit bills can call CrimeStoppers at 265-4444, the Havre Police Department at 265-4361, or the Hill County Sheriff's Office at 265-2512. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward through CrimeStoppers.
