Hi-Line Athletes of the Week

Mackenzie Hansen, North Star Girls Basketball

All fall, North Star junior Mackenzie Hansen was a spark plug for the Knights’ highly successful volleyball team. Now she’s doing it on the basketball court. Hansen may stand just 5-4, but she’s certainly played big so far this season. And in North Star’s sweep last weekend, she once again came up clutch. Hansen scored 12 points and hit a 3-pointer in the Knights’ key win over Box Elder on Friday. She added 11 points in a win over HLP on Saturday, and she’s averaging double figures on the season for the Knights.

Lucas Reed, Turner Boys Basketball

Wins in the District 9C have been hard to come by for the Turner boys basketball team. But the Tornadoes scored a big one last Saturday night in Turner, and Lucas Reed was a big reason why. Reed scored a game, and career-high 25 points as the Tornadoes beat the Big Sandy Pioneers 57-43. It was Turner’s third win already this season, and Reed’s efforts were tremendous. On the season, Reed is averaging close to 13 points and six rebounds per game for the 3-3 Tornadoes.
