Movie theater evacuation due to false alarm

Broken water pipes triggered fire alarm

Firefighters evacuated Cottonwood Cinema 4 after responding to a 4:27 p.m. Friday call to investigate a fire alarm that went off.

The alarm turned out to be a false call, firefighters said.

A broken water pipe, connected to the sprinkler system and likely caused by the bitter winter weather, set the alarm off.

Fire alarms are set off when they read that water is flowing through the pipes in a sprinkler system. The broken pipe let water flow through the system, thus causing the alarm to sound.
