District 6C East spikers honored

Three local players tabbed Class C All-State in volleyball

The high school volleyball season is over, but awards are pouring in for plenty of Hi-Line players.

The 2013 District 6C East All-Conference team was announced recently, with Chinook garnering four spots, Big Sandy and North Star with three each and Chester/J-I with two players named.

Chinook seniors Makhayla Farmer and Emily Dennis, along with juniors Hannah Weber and Katelyn Neibauer all helped the Sugarbeeters capture the 6C East regular season and tournament championships this fall. The Beeters also won a match at the state tournament. Farmer also earned Class C First-Team All-State honors, while Dennis was selected to the All-State Second Team.

North Star, which finished second in the 6C East and third at the Northern C Divisional, had seniors Bettie Carlon and Melissa Pester named to the All-Conference team, as well as junior Tylynn Rettig. Carlon was also named Class C First-Team All State.

Big Sandy had three seniors named 6C East All-Conference in Kaylie Gilman, Molly Herron and Brooke Leader. C/J-I was represented on the All-Conference list by senior Denerey Haaland and sophomore Madeline Woods.
