Names of Northern provost candidates released

The final six candidates for the provost and vice-chancellor position at Montana State University-Northern were announced Tuesday.

After former Provost Rosalyn Templeton’s resignation, a tripartite group, which included Chancellor James Limbaugh, took control of Templeton’s duties. Templeton is being paid on leave until her formal resignation date, Jan. 3,

Director of University Relations Jim Potter said administration hopes to have the new provost hired and at his desk by Jan. 1, but logistics may keep the candidates from doing so.

The candidates are:

• Richard Hy, associate provost for academic excellence at University of North Texas. His interview will be 2 p.m. Monday.

• William Baker, academic dean at Arizona Christian University. His interview will be 2 p.m. Thursday.

• Larry Strizich, chair and professor of engineering technology and computer information at Montana State University-Northern. His interview will be 2 p.m. Friday

• John Shoup, dean of the school of education at California Baptist University. His interview will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9.

Alumni2010 writes:

Larry would be a great candidate. He knows Northern and how it can succeed in it's role in the state. Larry was and is pretty much the man when it came to being a professor, I know he helped me out a ton when I was finishing up my degree.

Willy writes:

I am sure Big Jim (Limbaugh) will not consider Larry S. because he is from Northern, but they need to get back to bringing in people that will be here for awhile. Unless they get somebody from Montana, Northern will continue to have these problems. Larry would be awesome.
