Melissa was very generous, inspiring, caring, selfless and loving to anyone she met. Her greatest joy was her husband, Jay, three children and four grandchildren. She was very involved with her children and their sports and gave them her undivided attention, often going to great lengths to support them. Her grandchildren were her "everything," and her favorite thing to say was "I love my babies." She also loved her extended family, including brothers and sisters, grandparents, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

She was known to put others before herself and left an imprint on everyone's heart and was often a mentor and second mother to many of her children's friends. Melissa was a leader by example from family to work and that's why she left a valued impression on everyone who came into her life. Throughout her life she made a lasting impression on those she met creating many lifelong friends.

She rapidly rose through the ranks of the United States Postal Service through her hard work, leadership and dedication. Over the course of her career in the postal service, she held the positions as labor relations specialist, HR manager for Montana, HR manager for Oregon, strategic account manager and Bigfork postmaster.
