Local Bowling Report: Eagle Lanes open in Chinook

Ten Pin Chatter

October is learn-to-bowl month. So in following suit, Hi-Line Lanes is going to provide lessons for those keglers who would like to learn how to bowl or improve their game.

Lessons will be Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. Anyone wishing to participate may sign up at the lanes or call 254-5885 and leave their name. There will be no charge for these lessons.

Over the weekend, we traveled to Livingston for the annual Jamboree. Tom Brendgord of Billings is now the Association Manager for U. S. B. C. His duties now include processing every entry into the state tournaments, a job I am sure he will do very well. I have known Tom for over 45 years and he is very capable of handling this position.

Saturday night was the annual awards banquet at the Jamboree. We had the honor of sitting at the table with the recipitant of the ladies high average and series for the state. She was Autumn Brutori, a 24-year-old from Butte who averaged 212 and had a 801 series, with games of 279, 243, 279. Not bad for a 24-year-old E.M.T. student. High for the men with a 242 average was Todd Edelen from Billings and Julian Dullinger of Ronan with an 847 series.

Also at the table from U.S.B.C. was Mike Spridko. We had a lengthy discussion with him on merging associations. As a U.S.B.C. member, I think it is time for the Havre Association to consider this. It will save time and money and allow us to bid on some smaller state tournaments.

Bowler of the Year awards for Hi Line Lanes for 2012 – 2013 was Terri Wright for the ladies and Ryan Mapes for the men. Congratulations!

Eagle Lanes is now open after a year and a half of moving their facility. It is a fine addition to the city of Chinook. If you are out and about, stop in and take a look. You will be surprised at the new establishment.
