Blue Ponies and Miles City tie after lightning delay

The Havre High football team got off to a great start Friday night against the Miles City Cowboys. The Blue Ponies scored on their opening possession of their home opener when Dane Warp hooked up with Thomas Gruber for a 21-yard touchdown. However, Havre never got a chance to find out if it was going to be able to pull the upset.

Miles City tied the contest at 6-6 in the second quarter, then, minutes into the second half, the teams were pulled off the field due to lightning in the area. As the storms intensified, and with no end in sight, a 2-hour delay turned into the game being called off. The Ponies and Miles City ended in a tie, though the game was a non-conference affair, and the result will not affect either team's playoff chances.

Havre 0-1-1 will next play at Sidney next Friday night.
