Friends of Beaver Creek Park invite all to fundraiser

A nonprofit organized to support Beaver Creek Park has invited people to come to an evening of music, dancing and auctions to help it in its mission of fostering recreation and preservation of the park for generations to come.

Ursula Brese of Friends of Beaver Creek Park said the group’s second annual fundraiser, “Fall in Love with Beaver Creek Park,” is set for Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Beaver Lodge at Camp Kiwanis in the park.

She said the fundraiser last year, which was held in May, was successful, with about 75 people attending and enjoying themselves.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will help the nonprofit in its mission of helping the park. Brese said the goal is to buy something every year that the park staff needs but can’t fit in the annual budget.

“We plan to buy something for the park every year,” Brese said.

The group did that earlier this year, spending $1,529 to buy a pole saw and professional-quality paint sprayer for the park.

Brese said the members of the group are now looking for sponsorships and selling tickets.

The event, set to open at 5 p.m. with a barbecue catered by Big Willy’s BBQ starting at 6 p.m., includes live music provided by a band headed by local musician Kirt Miller and both live and silent auctions.

Tickets are $25 each or $75 for a family.

Brese said tickets are available at Bear Paw Meats, High Plains Gallery and Tip-It Bar, or through members of Friends of Beaver Creek Park. Brese said people can contact her at [email protected] about tickets or, if they wish to make a donation, cash or items for the auctions and three door prizes that will be given away are welcome, she said.

New Media Broadcasters also is giving away four tickets to the event, she said.

Along with listings of businesses that make donations for the fundraiser, advertisements that will be listed in the program for the event are available.
