Ground breaks on Bullhook Clinic

Close to 60 local officials, residents and Bullhook Community Health Center employees and board members gathered across from Havre City Hall this morning to break ground on a multi-million dollar facility — a new state-of-the art clinic for the health center.

Todd Hanson, chair of the Bullhook board of directors, thanked all for attending the groundbreaking.

“It’s a project we’re extremely proud of, the directors for Bullhook Community Health Center … ,” he said. “This is seven years of dreaming and two years of focused planning to really get to where we are today.”

Bullhook CEO Cindy Smith, while introducing U.S. Sen. Jon Tester, also thanked everyone, especially the people who work at Bullhook to provide its services.

“This is really exciting,” Smith said.

Tester said the project, which is at $6.5 million at this point, by his count, will provide another “pearl in this community” that will help meet the needs of the area and improve quality of life and improve health.

“This is not only about jobs, it’s not only about putting folks to work, it’s not only about building communities. It’s about access to health care,” Tester said. “It’s so critically important — access to health care that’s affordable — that’s what this is about.”
