Havre woman faces attempted murder charge

Being held on $75K bond

A 47-year-old Havre woman was in the Hill County jail this morning, awaiting the county attorney’s decision on filing charges including attempted murder based on allegations she tried to shoot a gun at someone.

The jail roster listed Cindy Roberts Stidham, 47, as being held on $75,000 bond on Havre Police Department charges of attempted deliberate homicide and two counts of partner or family member assault.

Stidham also is being held on two county charges, possession of dangerous drugs and of drug paraphernalia, on an additional $1,170 bond.

Police Assistant Chief of Operations Gabe Matosich said this morning that police officers responded to a call about 9:30 Thursday morning reporting several people fighting on the 1400 Block of 1st Street.

By the time the officers arrived, the defendant had left the scene, and the officers interviewed witnesses including the others involved in the fight, Matosich said.

Hill County sheriff’s deputies later found Stidham at a residence on the 1300 Block of 5th Street North, and Havre police officers responded and arrested her, Matosich said.

He said the officers initially charged her with partner and family member assault, and later added the attempted deliberate homicide charge after further investigation.

Witnesses said Stidham had pulled a gun during the fight, but the firearm jammed and she could not fire it, Matosich said.

The deputies who responded also arrested Stidham on the drug charges.

Matosich said the Havre Police Department has sent the information from the investigation to the Hill County Attorney, who will determine what charges to file in the case.
