Six Pony fastpitch players earn Central A accolades

The Havre High fastpitch softball team was just a couple of runs from making the 2013 Class A state tournament. And while the Blue Ponies didn’t quite reach their ultimate goal, they certainly have been rewarded for their talent on the field.

Tuesday, the Central A released its 2013 All-Conference list and six Blue Ponies were honored.

Leading the way was senior pitcher Davee McLeod, who earned First-Team All-Conference honors. McLeod, who is now a three-time all-conference selection, also earned Class A All-State honors for the first time in her storied career. McLeod is now part of juts a handful of Blue Ponies to ever earn Class A All-State honors in softball.

McLeod was the only Pony to be named First-Team All-Conference, but three HHS standouts earned Second-Team honors. Senior Roxanna Jensen was named to the second team, as was sophomore catcher Paige Henderson. Also making the list was freshman Dani Wagner, who played center field for the Ponies this season.

Havre also had two players selected to the Honorable Mention list. Sophomores Rachel Majeres and Harlee Boucher earned that honor for first-year head coach Dan Wirtzberger’s squad.

Havre joined Central A champion Belgrade, along with Livingston and Lewistown as having six players each selected to the All-Conference team for 2013. Former Big Sandy prep Mike Mangold, who is the Lewistown head coach, was named Central A Coach of the Year.
