Steven Lee Seidel

Steven Lee Seidel, 55, was called home by the Lord on Jan. 9, 2012, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings. He was en route to doing a remodeling job for a customer when he was stricken with an aortic arch aneurism.

Vigil service will be at 7 p. m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at St. Jude Thaddeus Church, and funeral Mass will be Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at 11 a. m., with Father Tyler Smedley officiating. Memorials in Steven's honor may be made to St. Jude Thaddeus School or Hill County 4-H Foundation or to a charity one's choice. A reception will be held in St. Jude Parish Center following the burial in Highland Cemetery. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.

Steven was born on June 18, 1956, to Joseph and Alma (Shettel) Seidel at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Havre. He was the oldest of four children and the first grandchild for Levi and Almira (Hunt) Shettel. Steven attended Davey Rural School and St. Jude Thaddeus Elementary School. He attended Havre High School, graduating in 1974. During his youth he was involved in Hill County 4-H and was a member of the Blue Horizon 4-H Club. He attended Montana State University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in ag ed in 1978. He taught school at a college in Hardin before moving to Billings. He was a salesman for Sherwin–Williams and was an insurance and financial consultant.

Steven married Patricia Gregoire, and to this union was born two children, Curtis and Trenna. The couple later divorced. The children were the light of his life, and he made many trips to Washington to take part in their activities. He was so proud of the fact that Curt is in the seminary studying to be a priest, and Trenna is studying to be a teacher.

Steven moved to Great Falls where he was a partner in the Four Guys Construction Company and later the Seidel Construction Company. He served as a member of the Montana 4-H Foundation Board of Directors and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed dancing, a good joke, hunting, laughing with his friends and communicating on his cellphone.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Levi and Almira Shettel, and Charles and Anna Seidel; a niece, Shannon Thrams; aunts and uncles; and cousins; as well as adopted grandparents Wallace and Bernice Cady.

Steven is survived by his son, Curtis of Spokane, Wash. ; daughter, Trenna of Ellensburg Wash. ; parents, Joe and Alma Seidel of Havre, Mont. ; sisters. Shelma of Havre, Mont., and Sharla (Bryan) Thrams of Weldona, Colo. ; brother, Scott (Dana) Seidel of Havre, Mont. ; nieces, Samantha (Tyler) Thompson, Jayme Seidel and Sadie Seidel, all of Havre, Mont., and Shandra and Shawn Thrams of Colorado; great-niece, Avery Thompson of Havre, Mont. ; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and lifelong friends.
