Harlem High grapplers have a strong showing

Harlem Wildcats wrestling team is off to a strong start this season, and this past weekend was no different. Saturday, the Wildcats sent seven wrestlers into the finals of the Glasgow Invitational, while coming away with five champions.

Harlem, ranked fourth in the latest Class B-C Poll, saw Shay Snider defeat teammate Gus Taylor for the 112-pound championship Saturday in Glasgow, while Teague Jones beat a Lewistown opponent to win the 125-poundchampionship.

Johnson captured a title for the Wildcats at 135 pounds, as did Seth Adams at 215 pounds and Trent Noel at heavyweight. T'Jay Allen placed Brendan second at 119 pounds for the Wildcats.

Also attending the Glasgow tournament was Chinook and the Havre junior varsity team, and both squads saw some success as well. All three local teams were in action Friday night as the Sugarbeeters held the Chinook Mixer in Chinook. The Wildcats won 19 matches and lost just 11, while teams from Havre, Big Sandy and Chester/J-I also competed."We had three good rounds of wrestling on Friday and the team wrestled well," Harlem head coach Lyle Faulkinberry said. "We worked on some new stuff this past week, and we were able to utilize some of it on the mats. I wanted a strong showing only being 20 miles from home, and I wanted the team to back up the ranking that the Wildcats received in theClass B-C State Power Poll."

Several area teams will compete at this weekend's prestigious CMR Holiday Classic in Great Falls.
