8 p.m.: With a cry of “Hear ye, hear ye, the polls are now closed,” the staff members of the Hill County Clerk and Recorder’s office announced at 8 p.m. that voting in the 2012 general election was done in Hill County.
The staff members of the office then, while processing ballots that just had been filled out and preparing for the next steps, began to wait for the ballots to come in from the polling places around the county.
Staff members of the office reported that late registration and voting in the Clerk and Recorder’s office had proceeded steadily all day long to the close of polling.
According to the daily totals,196 people used late registration and voted in the Clerk and Recorder’s Office today, nearly doubling the previous total of 246 through Monday.
As the results come in, the number of ballots are balanced with what is reported from each precinct, then the votes on each ballots are counted by an automated machine.
