In January of 1947, she married Leigh Morgan, the love of her life, in Havre, and the couple settled down, raising their children there. Arlene worked for the city of Havre as a bookkeeper, and for Devlin School, teaching fifth grade. Arlene was always very talented, and for a while, she also worked as a private art teacher, while painting her own works. Following her work as a fifth-grade teacher, she was self-employed as an artist, creating lovely, life-like paintings.
Arlene enjoyed gardening. She helped organize the Montana and Havre Associations for Retarded Children and worked hard at publishing the state Association for Retarded Children newsletter for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leigh; her 7-year-old daughter, Kathleen; her parents, Elvin and Martha Hanson; and her brother, Kenneth Hanson.
Arlene is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Kent) Elliott of Boulder, Mont.; her sons, Thomas L. and John D. Morgan, both of Little Rock, Ark.; her six grandchildren; her five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Betty Seifert of Cut Bank, Mont.
