    The National Junior Honor Society at the Havre Middle School has been collecting school supplies, but not for school in Havre. The honor society is collecting supplies to send to schools in Uzbekistan. Karen Nave, the advisor for the society at the middle school, said that when HMS teacher Judy Wolfe returned from her two weeks teaching at Uzbekistan, the honor society was impressed by her talks about the lack of basic supplies at the schools. Merlin Wolery, R-Rudyard, told the North Central Montana Pachyderm Club Friday that the creation of a State Power Authority could be one of the most important aspects of the energy package, HB-474, passed by the 57th Legislature. "But we don't hear much talk about it," Wolery said. "I think it's a real important part of it." The State Power Authority, according to Wolery, provides incentives through low-interest loans through the Montana Investment Act for up to 450 megawatts of new generation. The Authority has...

    The Fresno Walleye Challenge took place on May 18 and 19th at the Fresno Reservoir west of Havre. At the close of the tournament on Day 1, Ferdinand Marolt and Reg Smith held the first place position with a five-fish total of 11.6, the team also took home the prize for largest walleye on Day 1. Dale Hawks and Don Wolf had the largest walleye on Day 2, closing out the tournament in second place.
