  • Supreme Court: Man must explain self-defense claim

    GREAT FALLS (AP) — A Great Falls man must testify at his deliberate homicide trial if he wants to argue he shot a Fairfield man in self-defense, the Montana Supreme Court has ruled.   • Turning Highway 2 into 'Super 2'

    Planning is moving forward on upgrading the next section of U.S. Highway 2 to a “Super 2” configuration with passing and turning lanes, with the Montana Department of Transportation looking for comments on the proposal. The project would upgrade 10.4 miles of the highway starting from where the first upgrade ended and stopping just west of Chinook.     Havre's Sasaki wins trap shooting state championship A pair of local marksmen did quite well in the Montana State Trap Shoot in Great Falls. The state shoot was held two weeks ago, and one Havre Trap Club member brought home a state championship. Emi Sasaki won the Montana Women’s State Championship in Great Falls.     Northern A American Legion district play is now officially in the books for the Havre North Stars. And they finished strong. Havre split with the league-leading Medicine Hat Knights Wednesday afternoon in Medicine Hat, Alberta, dropping the opening game of the doubleheader 9-6, but bouncing back to win the nightcap 5-4.     Tonight marks the start of three straight nights of rodeo action at the Great Northern Fair. The young cowboys and cowgirls are up first. Tonight at 5, the annual Havre Junior Rodeo will take place at the Great Northern Fairgrounds Arena. But one junior rodeo is already in the books.
