  • Northern Student elections in full swing

    Voting for the student senate elections for the Associate Students of Montana State University-Northern will begin Tuesday. Students can still sign up to run for student senate until Friday. As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, there was no competition for positions on the senate, leaving six students running unopposed. Andrew Potter is running for the position of student senate president, a position currently occupied by Annie Kling.   • 20 Havre students awarded scholarships

    Twenty Havre High School juniors were awarded $1,000 scholarships Tuesday, to attend Montana State University-Northern, at a banquet to honor their hard work and vigor. Leadership High School, a program that sent high school students to various organizations and businesses Tuesday to job shadow employees, was created by the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce 14 years ago.     Thirty-five-year-old Dawn Marie Beeman was the victim of the murder Sunday night that prompted Havre police to take Jordan Carlson into custody. Carlson, 25, was arrested after officers responded to an 8 p.m. Sunday call about a disturbance at 620 1st Ave. Apt. 3. Havre police released the name Tuesday afternoon after withholding in earlier press releases about the case.   • Local cagers earn prep honors

    Basketball season is over but more and more accolades are pouring in from across the Hi-Line. Recently, the District 1B and 2B released their All-Conference lists, and many area players were honored. In District 1B boys, Rocky Boy’s Desmond Parker was named Second-Team All-Conference. Parker, a senior, earned All-Conference honors for the third straight season.
