Of course, two of those men’s showdowns happened in Havre, where the Montana State University-Northern Lights beat Montana Tech in a miracle finish, then came from 17 points down in the second half to beat Lewis-Clark State 24 hours later. But for all the Lights’ hard work this past weekend, they didn’t move an inch in the Frontier standings. T...

At the end of this weekend’s Class B-C state wrestling tournament in Billings, the Harlem Wildcats might not be walking out of the Rimrock Auto Arena at Metra Park with a team trophy. The fact is, Harlem, which has become a stalwart in B-C wrestling under head coach Lyle Faulkinberry, just might not have the depth to keep pace with the likes of Choteau, Forsyth, Colstrip and a few others. But then again, the Wildcats could. You just never know when it comes to wrestling. N...

  • Showdown: MSU-N/UGF Part Two

    George Ferguson|Updated Feb 12, 2014

In college wrestling, rivalries don’t get much more intense than the one which will take place tonight in Havre. That’s because the Montana State University-Northern Lights and the University of Great Falls Argos are the only game in town when it comes to collegiate wrestling in Montana. The rivalry is also intense because the Lights and Argos recruit many of the same prep wrestlers, because both Tyson Thivierge and Caleb Schaeffer are former Northern national champions and...
