Al Vukasin, president of Bear Paw Credit Union in Havre, has been re-elected as controller of the Montana Credit Unions League and Service Group.
Vukasin said his duties as controller of the league, which is a trade association of 79 credit unions in the state and is located in Helena, includes monitoring the monthly financials of the league. He reviews the financial statements each month, and provides reports comparing the budgeted income and expenses to actual income and expenses, explaining the differences as necessary.
As controller, Vukasin also reviews the annual independent audit report for the league, and participates in the executive committee meetings. He said the frequency of the meetings varies, with more than one taking place in a month at some times.
This is the third time Vukasin has been elected to the year-long position. Elections were held in conjunction with the league's annual convention and exposition held recently in Kalispell.
Vukasin has been a member of the board of directors of the Montana Credit Unions League since 1996, representing District Four, the Hi-Line Chapter of Credit Unions.
He began his credit union career as the vice president of finance or GFGE Federal Credit Union in Great Falls before moving to his present position with Bear Paw Credit Union.
Bear Paw Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial institution serving over 10,000 member/owners through its main office in Havre and its branch offices in Chester and Sunburst and is active in many community activities.
