Paugh leads Chinook team at state

Lucas Paugh, a senior at Chinook High School, led the Sugarbeeters at the State Class B golf tournament held at the King Ranch Golf Course in Frenchtown on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Paugh fired an 82-85 during the two-day, 36-hole tournament for a team-leading 167.

Troy Omsberg fired a 176 during the two days. The senior shot an 85 during the opening day and a 91 on day two for the finish.

Tyler Oehmcke shot 180. The senior shot a consistent 90-90 at the tournament.

Jimmy Steyee was also consistent, firing 92-91-183 on the two days.

T.J. Murray shot 91-96-187.

The Sugarbeeters, competing in their fifth season, have put the cap on the most successful season thus far.

Chinook claimed three team titles this season, which is three more than ever won before.

Jessica Kauffman, the lone girl on the team, fired a two-day 107-115 for 222 at state.

Fort Benton won the boys' team title with a 639, while Plentywood fired a two-day 770 to win the girls' title.
