Alfred I. Fredriksen, 84, Havre, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000 at a Havre hospital of natural causes. Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Robert D. Grosch officiating. Burial of cremated remains will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.
Fredriksen was born 35 miles south of Havre on his grandparents farm to Olaf A. and Clara Putra Fredriksen. He attended several country schools south of Havre.
He helped his father on the ranch until he went into the U.S. Army in 1942. He served in World War Two in the Philippines; Fort Ord, Calif.; Australia; Alaska, and Texas. He was honorably discharged in 1954, returned to Havre, and worked on several farms and ranches south of Havre.
Fredriksen met Loretta Seidel in 1965 at her brother-in-law's ranch south of Havre and the couple married on March 10, 1966. They moved to Havre in June 1967 and worked on various ranches south of Havre.
Fredriksen enjoyed playing poker and cards, visiting with longtime friends from the country, and watching western movies and rodeos.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, one brother, and an infant son.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta of Havre; son, Mike of Havre; brother, Clifford Fredriksen of Great Falls; three grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Parish Center.
Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
