The blustery wind at Cut Bank blew the Havre Blue Ponies' boys' golf team into the record books on Saturday.
The Ponies placed first at the Cut Bank Invitational with a 311 and broke the tournament record for Havre High by 14 strokes.
"I was really, really pleased that we played that well," Havre head coach Keith Evenson said.
"Four of the Blue Pony boys placed in the top six at the event.
Jason Johnstone earned medalist honors for the second-straight day with 1-over par 73.
Kevin Harada tied for second with a 77, Troy Toner placed fifth with a 77 and Nick Obie placed sixth with an 81.
Kyle Sheppard rounded out the team with an 85.
The Blue Pony girls finished third just three strokes off second-place finished Shelby with a 413.
Senior Lisa Wagner notched a second-place finish with a 94.
Jenni Solomon placed fourth overall with a 100. Jill McLain stepped into the varsity role with the absence of Jessica Sande and tallied a 103. McLain finished seventh overall.
Julie Wagner shot a 116 and Katie Miller fired a 119 on the day.
"The girls are doing better all the time," Evenson said.
That improvement landed the Blue Pony girls a team title Friday at Fort Benton.
The girls captured their first title of the year with a 419.
Lisa Wagner placed second overall with a 98 to lead the Ponies.
"The girls played really well," Evenson said. "Our goal is that we get them to state and it is looking favorable that we do that."
Johnstone again led the boys with a 1-under 71. The Blue Ponies as a team were upset with a second-place finish at 324.
"Jason did outstanding, but the rest of the boys were not pleased with their scores or their showing that day," Evenson said.
The Ponies are winding up for the Central A divisional that will be held on Saturday at Lewistown and the State A which begins Monday at Whitefish.
