PHILIP CURRY
Philip Michael Curry, 78, died Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at a Kalispell hospital.
Visitation will be held 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight at Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Graveside services with Military Honors will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Highland Cemetery with the Rev. Kenn Green officiating. A reception will follow at St. Marks Episcopal Church in Havre.
Curry was born April 14, 1921, in Havre, to Charles and Rachel (Bahne) Curry. He was raised in Havre and graduated from Havre High School. He attended two years at Northern Montana College and one year at the University of Montana. He was employed at the Great Northern Railroad as a telegrapher and ticket agent before entering the U.S. Army Air Force in 1943.
While serving in WWII as a radio operator and mechanic gunner he received two air medals, good conduct medal, Philippine Liberation medal and a bronze service star in New Guinea. In 1945 he was honorably discharged from the Army. He was then employed at the Radar Station in Havre as an equipment operator. He later managed the Country Club Golf Course. He purchased the Stockmans Bar and Hide-away Restaurant in Havre, which he operated until his illness.
Curry enjoyed golf, bowling and was involved in many civic duties. He was a member of the Elks and the Chamber of Commerce.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include a son, Daniel Ray Curry of Ozark, Ala.; a sister, Phyllis Vining of Missoula; a brother, Charles Curry of Lakeside; a grandson; and a niece, two nephews and two cousins.
Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
