CHINOOK It was just about all Mike Maddox, as the third-year starting quarterback for Chinook ran for three touchdowns in the Sugarbeeters blanking of Wolf Point Friday night, 27-0.
The Beeters first score came in the first quarter as Maddox found his way into the end zone from the five-yard line. A Justin Friede kick put the Sugarbeeters up 7-0.
In the second quarter, Chinook found the end zone three times. The first one again came from Maddox as he ran 23 yards to put Chinook up 13-0 after a missed point-after. The next touchdown also came via the feet of Maddox, as he ran in from three yards away for the score. This time it was Kyle Butcher who tacked on the extra point.
Josh Miller scored the Beeters final touchdown of the second quarter and the game as he fell on a blocked punt in the end zone for the touchdown. After the score, Chinook led 27-0. Neither team could find the end zone in the second half.
Mason Roseberry showed up again on the defensive side of the ball with two interceptions.
Chinook had 193 total yards on offense while the Wolves could only muster 60.
The win moves Chinook to 1-0 in league play and 2-0 overall.
Chinook head coach Scott Friede said he is pleased overall with his teams play. Friede said the offense was strong in the first half but was a little flat in the second half of the game.
I feel we need to play a more complete game offensively, Friede said.
On the defensive side of the ball, Friede said, his team was rock solid.
Next up for the Beeters is a trip to Poplar. This will be Chinooks first road game of the season and Friede said he is still waiting on the game film of Poplar. Friede did say the Indians have scored a lot of points so far this year so his team will need to continue to get stronger.
