RUBY STANDING ROCK

ROCKY BOY Ruby Standing Rock, Native American name, White Rock Woman, 84, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at her residence of natural causes.

Wake services will be held today at the Rocky Boy Senior Citizens Center in Rocky Boy. Traditional services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Rocky Boy Senior Citizens Center at Rocky Boy. Burial will follow at the NaTose Cemetery at Rocky Boy.

Standing Rock was born July 25, 1915, at Browning, to Crazy Boy and Looking Glass. In 1916, her family moved to Havre. In 1917, the family moved to Rocky Boy. She then lived in Great falls for a number of years.

She married Joe Standing Rock. The couple later divorced. She later moved to Havre and then to Rocky Boy.

She enjoyed teasing everyone. She spoke Blackfeet, Cree and Ojibwa languages. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Native American Church.

Standing Rock was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, a son, a brother and three sisters.

Survivors include sons, Duncan Standing Rock Sr., Joseph Saddler of Bellingham, Wash., Henry Standing Rock of Missoula and John Well-Off-Man of Havre; a daughter, Ruby Well-Off-Man of Seattle, Wash.; 37 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home of Havre.
