MARGARET MUGGY SPOTTED BIRD

HAYS Margaret Muggy Rose Spotted Bird, 51, died Monday, June 14, 1999, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.

Wake services will be held 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the St. Pauls Mission Recreation Center. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Pauls Mission Recreation Center with burial following at Mission Cemetery.

Spotted Bird was born Aug. 17, 1947, at Fort Belknap to Paul and Katie (Shortman) Spotted Bird. She attended grade school in Hays and graduated from high school in Flandreau, S.D. She attended college in Pasadena, Calif. for two years.

She married Melvin Mountain. She lived in Havre with her sister up until her death.

Spotted Bird was a full-blooded member of the Gros Ventre Nation. She enjoyed playing bingo, walking, visiting with friends and family, and listening to Indian and country music.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Mountain, her parents, five brothers, two sisters, a nephew and a grandson.

Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Clark; a son, Melvin Mountain, Jr.; sisters, Elaine Spotted Bird Small and Loretta Spotted Bird, both of Havre; her companion, Leon Lodge, Sr., of Havre; a nephew and several nieces; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
