The public is invited to share in the Indian taco sale the Havre Middle School Culture Club is putting on Friday at the school cafeteria.
The public offering, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., will follow the sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade lunch hours and taco sales from 11:15 to 12:45 p.m.
For $3, each diner will receive a hearty Indian taco and beverage.
Culture Club Advisor Daisy Sherman said the Indian taco feed is pretty much the culmination of the Native American Week observance at HMS.
Its the grand finale of all the things theyve been doing in the classrooms all week, Sherman said. Instructors throughout the school have been doing classroom lessons to fit in with Native American Week.
Proceeds from the Indian taco sale will go to fund various Culture Club activities and projects.
The club is open to all middle school students, not just Indians, and is expanding its focus to other cultures.
Were focusing on all cultures, Sherman said, and are inviting International Club students from the college and people of other nationalities to speak at our meetings.
HMS Culture Club meets twice each month, she said. One meeting is devoted to community service. Projects vary from reading to seniors at the care center to picking up litter along roadways. The other meeting is devoted to culture study.
Sherman said the club plans to have a Korean woman talk about her culture in the near future. Sherman said she hopes the presentation includes some Korean dishes prepared by the speaker.
