The Havre High junior varsity girls basketball squad has been learning things differently than its older counterparts.
While the varsity had eked out an overtime victory earlier this season against Glasgow and while the varsity has tallied five straight wins, the JV squad was edged in two overtime losses last weekend.
Friday against Lewistown, the JVers fell to the Golden Eagles 51-46 at the Havre High gymnasium.
Sophomore Amy Ranes, who stepped into the varsity game later that night, had team-high 13 points in the contest.
Ranes tallied two points in the varsity match-up.
Sophomore Alicia Kato joined Ranes in double figures with 12 points.
Saturday at Havre High against the Great Falls JV, a late whistle sent the game into overtime with the Ponies falling short of victory 52-51.
Kato stormed the court and notched a team-high 20 points in the loss.
Junior Sam Velk chipped in 10 points to join in the double figure fun.
The JV, 2-2 overall, travel to Browning Friday in Central A action and will play at home Saturday against non-conference Malta.
