CUT BANK The KG KouGars came home with a second place finish with 53 points, behind Class A power Browning, at the Cut Bank Invitational.
KGs top finisher was Aaron Smith who took fourth with a time of 17 minutes and one second. Eric Hanson was right on Smiths heels as he finished fifth with a 17:05. In eight place was Justin Antonich who ran the course in a time of 17:21. Virgil Stewart had a time of 17:40 which put him in 13th place. Rounding out KGs top five was Deven Donovan who took 23rd with a finishing time of 18:25.
Joey Fallo placed 47th with a time of 19:55 and Thomas Marshall finished in 21:05.
KG coach Paul Anderson said his team had a tough week of practice and was a little tired for the meet.
Its better, though, to get that out of the way at this point in the season, Anderson said.
The times of the race were a little slower from the last meet two weeks ago at Cut Bank. Anderson said this was due to the fact that neither Great Falls High schools were there and they pushed the pace of the race at the Cut Bank Time Trials.
Anderson said he is happy with where the team is at right now, and they just need to work on their No. 5 runner. Anderson said that is a very important spot.
Next weekend the KouGars travel to Missoula for the Mountain West Meet. This is the largest meet of the year with schools participating from Montana, Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. Anderson said there will be more than 1,000 runners in the meet.
