Havre Public Schools is being asked to approve an easement across the property west of the new soccer fields for two housing developments south of Havre High School.
The easement would be for the extension of Havre water and sewer lines south to Bullhook Drive and then southeast to Freeman Park and the Johnsrud Subdivision. The additions are situated west of Heritage Drive.
Superintendent Kirk Miller, who brought the request for easement to the school boards attention last Tuesday, said the project is just in the beginning stages. Miller said the proposed project was brought to the boards attention early in the process to determine any possible ramifications prior to filing the appropriate paperwork.
The project still needs the approval of the Department of Environmental Quality, too, he said.
District Director of Buildings and Grounds Ric Floren said the 30-foot utility easement would cut across school property just west of the soccer field. He suggested that the water and sewer lines could be used to install restroom facilities for the soccer program.
Miller said that work on the project, if approved at all levels, could be completed by late spring or early summer.
