Skylights golf notches fifth place at Butte tournament

The MSU-Northern womens golf team, in its second year as a full member of the Frontier Conference, came home from Butte with a fifth-place finish Friday.

Shanda Lammerding of Havre, the Skylights No. 1 golfer, shot a team-high 93. Senior Brooke Barkus, the No. 2 golfer, shot a 97.

Jami Jackson and Ristina Johnston shot a 101 and 104, respectively, to round-out the Skylights, who shot a 395 team total.

The course was in very good condition, said Doug Sheppard, an assistant to head coach Jessica Peters. The greens were fast. But we were a little disappointed in our scores.

Putting and chipping posed the biggest problem for the team, who, again this week, three-putted some holes at the Butte Country Club.

Lewis-Clark State and Rocky Mountain College finished in the top two spots at the Frontier Conference Tournament.

The Skylights travel to Dillon Sunday and Billings Monday to finish the September schedule.
