Havre Public Schools has named representatives to serve on the Athletic Review Task Force, Superintendent Kirk Miller announced.
The purpose of this group is to review the possible addition and/or elimination of student athletic activities at Havre High School.
Athletics are the heart of this community, Miller said. Those selected meet the criteria of task force membership and are interested in serving in this capacity.
That membership includes a commitment of approximately 20-40 hours of evening meeting time over the next seven months.
The members must participate in all public and committee meetings called by the Task Force so that the representative has a chance to hear all public comment.
Three committee meetings and three public meetings are tentatively planned at this time, Miller said.
The Task Force members will research the views of their constituency and represent those views at the meetings.
The member will provide any factual information regarding the organization they represent that might be necessary for review by the Task Force.
The Task Force member will support the organization they represent.
We chose people who are decent listeners and who will come into this with an open mind and not an agenda of their own, Miller said.
Ric Floren, school board trustee, has been chosen as the facilitator of the group.
Other members and their constituencies are: Jim Heberly and Denise Thompson, board of trustees; Karla Wohlwend, personnel/Title IX director; Jim Donovan, Havre High School principal; Charlie Klimas, Havre High School athletic director; Ginger Zanto, transportation director; Lela Patera, Havre High School booster club; Barry Zanto, Havre Middle School administrative representative; Dave Wilson, director of City Parks and Recreation department; John Ita and Scott Filius, Havre High School coaches; Jayla McPherson, grade 10, and Kris Myers, grade 11, Havre High School students; Debbie Rhines, soccer association; Kristy Kline, youth softball association; Ron Watson, cross country; Wells Lamey and Dan Shepherd, at large representatives.
The Task Force members will not be the final decision makers in this process, Miller said.
Letters have been sent to block off dates to schedule an organizational meeting that will be held in September, Miller said.
I commend all those selected for their willingness to serve in this capacity, Miller said.
